Anchor House Receives Bank of America Neighborhood Builders Award
Anchor House has been named a Bank of America 2023 Neighborhood Builders awardee and we couldn’t be more thrilled! As one of Bank of America’s 2023 Neighborhood Builders, we will receive funding as well as leadership training for both Kim McNear, Executive Director, and Alashia Mays, Case Manager and emerging leader. Mariana was selected by the Family and Youth Services Bureau’s Runaway and Homeless Youth Program as the winner of the 2020 Artistic Expression Contest. Her work “The Journey” was chosen by a panel of bureau representatives and youth from the youth advisory board. She received praise for her creative process and reflection upon life’s journey with three words of encouragement — respect, beauty and love. The contest empowered youth to use art as an outlet to express themselves and tell their stories. Award was recognized virtually.
Eric was presented with the National Safe Place Network Youth in Action Award in August. Awards were presented during the 2020 Virtual Conference. Eric had the opportunity to present a moving acceptance speech before being presented with his award and a letter of congratulations from the Anchor House Board of Directors.
Anchor House and The Mercer Alliance to End Homelessness were recently honored by Turning Point United Methodist Church for our work in the community.
