With the end of the year approaching, Anchor House wanted to take the time to thank all of our angels who made the holiday season brighter for our young people. Special thanks to companies and organizations like Kenvue, Otsuka, More Jersey, Patrons of Ewing Library, and Lawrence Rehabilitation Hospital (to name a few) who hosted events and donated gifts and beautifully wrapped them; Team Building Unlimited, LLC for inviting Anchor House to a holiday Cake Wars where Novo Nordisk employees created delicious masterpieces for our youth to enjoy; and all the angels who purchased gift cards off our wish list, provided meals for the holidays or did an act of kindness to make the holidays brighter for our kids.
Angels from Kenvue have been donating gifts to Anchor House for many years, back when they were part of the consumer healthcare division under J&J. These employees joyfully fulfill the wish lists of our youth. They host a holiday party each year at their Skillman office which Kim McNear, our Executive Director, happily attends.
A group from Otsuka (angels pictured below) decided to donate and wrap gifts that focused on the well being of our youth which is aligned with their company’s mission which included sound machines and weighted blankets to help improve sleep, yoga mats and meditation and affirmation cards.
A new Anchor House angel this year was More Jersey. We are so thankful that Joe Campbell, their CEO, reached out to Anchor House to see if we wanted to be a recipient of gifts from More Jersey’s Gift Wrapping Social on December 4 at Bloomfield College of Montclair State University.
Another Anchor House angel not just at the holidays but all year long is Team Building Unlimited, LLC. This company, run by the amazing Mary Ann Romano, offers companies the opportunity to participate in creative team building activities. One of the most popular team building activities is Cake Wars in which Mary Ann has invited Anchor House staff to serve as judges. It is not only the design of the cake that is judged, but each team has to do a presentation to determine the winner. Anchor House always feels like the winner as we get to take the cakes back to the youth in our programs to enjoy!
For the holidays, Anchor House got to judge at a Cake Wars for employees at Novo Nordisk. The winning team created a masterpiece, a Christmas tree with hidden treats of candy inside. They also presented Anchor House with a generous check.
Another angel this year was the NJEA F.A.S.T. group who helped us to be able to offer our holiday event at Anchor House as well as workshops for our youth. They have been so supportive of Anchor House for many years.
We also want to thank those who continue to show support and love to our kids throughout the year. Angels to us are ordinary people that do extraordinary things.
