Showing Support for the Anchor House Foundation Ride for Runaways – Marcia’s Story

It is officially Ride season!

Meet one of the newest members of the Anchor House Foundation Ride for Runaways team, Marcia Wilson. She will be joining the support team as they help the Riders during the week-long trip.

Marcia has been working at Anchor House for seven years in the Anchorage Transitional Living Program. When asked how she came to work at Anchor House, she said she heard from various people the great things Anchor House does and she knew she wanted to help.

When asked why she decided to go on the Ride this year, Marcia said she wanted to do the Ride because she has been cheering the Riders on at the different events, such as at the picnics. She even brought her grandsons with her to cheer the Riders on as they came into the mall at the finish of the week-long trip. “I wanted to do something,” Marcia explained. “I want to be in the heart of it and be part of the experience and family of Riders. I want to be able to feel the energy of the Riders and be part of all of it.”

We are so excited for Marcia and can’t wait to cheer her on as she goes on this new adventure on the Anchor House Foundations Ride for Runaways.

This story was written by Denise Bard, Anchor House Board Secretary, Co-Chair of the Communications Workgroup and (last, but not least) a former Support team member on the Anchor House Foundation Ride for Runaways. Joining Marcia on this 500-mile journey is one of her colleagues, Luisanny Ortiz, who is a veteran on the Support team.
