Congrats to Mereides Delgado, Director of Young Adult Services, on 20 years of outstanding service!
Mereides worked in various roles over the years and currently oversees the Anchorage Transitional Living Program and Anchor Line Apartment Program.
She started as Lead Child Care Provider then Program Coordinator for Angel’s Wings. Angel’s Wings was a program for children, ages birth through 12, who were removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Mereides eventually became Director of Aging Out Youth Services overseeing the Transitional Living Program and is now responsible for the Apartment Program as well.
“Mereides’ dedication, hard work, and passion has not only impacted our programs, our staff but has made a profound difference in the lives of our young people. Many of our young people have grown into confident, capable adults because of her guidance and support. They carry forward the lessons that she has taught them, the values that she has helped to instill, and the hope that she has nurtured,” says Kim McNear, Executive Director, Anchor House
“On behalf of our Board, staff and kids, I want to extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation. We are incredibly fortunate to have Mereides as a part of our team. Congratulations on reaching this remarkable milestone!” Kim continued.
Mereides serves on the Mercer County Minority Concerns Committee and Youth Investment Council. She holds an MDiv from Princeton University.
“It’s been a great ride, I am grateful to belong to something so meaningful with such an impact,” shares Mereides.
Mereides continues to be inspired by the impact of the work. “We have youth that would not be housed if not for us seeing their resiliency and seeing that with support how far they go and what they can achieve,” she explains.
A former youth participant expressed her gratitude: “Thank you for being here and being supportive and for helping us with any problems that we have!”
Fun Fact: Mereides is a twin. She is currently supervising an undergraduate intern that is the granddaughter of a former staff person when she worked at Angel’s Wings.
